Shopify POS + NetSuite integration
Shopify POS and NetSuite, running as one retail system
Your stores ring sales in Shopify POS. Your finance team closes the month in NetSuite. Seibert Consulting Group connects the two so every in-store sale, return, exchange and stock movement lands in NetSuite correctly, by location, without anyone re-keying it.
Scope
What a Shopify POS to NetSuite integration has to handle
A web-order integration is not enough for retail stores. POS adds its own data, and each piece needs a decision about how it posts in NetSuite.
01
In-store sales
Shopify POS orders need to post as the right NetSuite transaction for your process, usually a cash sale rather than a sales order waiting on fulfillment, tagged to the store’s location and subsidiary.
02
Returns and exchanges
A return made in a different store from the original sale has to credit the right location and reverse the right revenue.
03
Location inventory
Stock on hand per store, transfers between stores, and buy-online-pick-up-in-store reservations need one source of truth.
04
Payments and payouts
Card, cash, gift card and split tenders must reconcile to Shopify Payments payouts and your bank deposits in NetSuite.
05
Customers
Walk-in shoppers, loyalty members and B2B buyers who also shop in store should match one customer record, not create duplicates.
06
Tax
Store-level sales tax needs to agree between Shopify and NetSuite reporting.
07
End-of-day totals
Register or daily summaries, when you post in batches instead of transaction by transaction.
Options
Three ways to connect Shopify POS to NetSuite
NetSuite Connector (Oracle’s connector, formerly FarApp)
Fits when
Standard retail flows, few locations, and cash-sale posting works for you.
Watch for
Oracle’s documentation says POS orders post as cash sales and do not require shipment. Exchanges, split tenders and custom location logic often need extra work.
iPaaS connector (Celigo and similar)
Fits when
You already run an integration platform for other systems.
Watch for
Per-flow or per-transaction pricing, and POS templates you still have to map to your NetSuite setup.
Lightning (our NetSuite integration platform)
Fits when
You want NetSuite-first logic, fixed pricing and one team accountable for the result.
Watch for
Scoped per retailer; built on top of your NetSuite account structure.
We are not tied to any one connector. We recommend whichever of the three fits your stores, your NetSuite configuration and your budget, and we implement it. About Lightning →
Process
How the project runs
1
Retail data audit
We map your locations, subsidiaries, item records, tender types and tax setup in NetSuite, and how Shopify POS uses them today.
2
Posting design
We agree how each POS event posts in NetSuite (sale, return, exchange, transfer, payout) with your controller before anything is built.
3
Build and test in a sandbox
Flows run against a NetSuite sandbox and a test store, including returns across locations and split payments.
4
Store rollout
We go live one location at a time, with reconciliation checks after each store’s first day and first close.
5
Support
We monitor sync errors and reconciliation after launch, so problems surface before month-end.
FAQ
Questions retailers ask
Does Shopify POS integrate with NetSuite natively?
No. Shopify POS has no built-in NetSuite sync. You need a connector (Oracle’s NetSuite Connector, an iPaaS, or a platform like Lightning) configured for how your stores should post in NetSuite.
Should POS sales post to NetSuite one by one or as a daily summary?
It depends on transaction volume and what finance needs to see. Single-transaction posting gives item-level detail per sale; daily summaries keep the NetSuite ledger lighter. We decide this with your finance team during posting design.
Can inventory stay accurate across stores and the online store?
Yes, when NetSuite is the inventory source of truth and each Shopify location maps to a NetSuite location. Transfers, receipts and adjustments happen in NetSuite and sync out to Shopify.
What about NetSuite’s own POS options?
NetSuite offers SuiteCommerce InStore and NetSuite Point of Sale, and third-party POS apps run inside NetSuite. If you already sell online on Shopify, Shopify POS keeps one commerce platform across channels.
Do you also integrate the online store and B2B?
Yes. POS is usually one part of a wider Shopify–NetSuite integration. See Shopify NetSuite integration and Shopify B2B and NetSuite.
