Campfire or NetSuite
Campfire or NetSuite: what your requirements actually point to
The comparison is usually framed as modern against established. That is not the decision. The decision is how much of your business the system has to run — and the moment inventory, orders or manufacturing are in scope, the answer changes.
Side by side
Where the two actually differ
Capability comparison, not a scorecard. Both descriptions come from what each vendor publishes.
Requirement
Closing the books across entities
Campfire
Built for it. Consolidation, close checklists, flux analysis and reconciliation are the product
NetSuite
Does it, with more configuration and usually more consultant time
Requirement
Revenue recognition
Campfire
Included in the product
NetSuite
Available, and separately licensed
Requirement
Inventory and item master
Campfire
None. Journalises what another system tells it
NetSuite
Full item master, costing and valuation
Requirement
Orders, fulfilment, warehouses
Campfire
None
NetSuite
Order management, fulfilment, WMS and POS
Requirement
Manufacturing, BOMs, production
Campfire
None, and not on the roadmap they publish
NetSuite
Full manufacturing suite
Requirement
E-commerce
Campfire
No commerce channel in the published integration catalogue
NetSuite

Requirement
Implementation effort
Campfire
Weeks for a finance-only rollout, run by their own accountants
NetSuite
Months, and the work scales with how much of the business it runs
Requirement
Where it stops
Campfire
At the ledger boundary. Everything operational is someone else’s system
NetSuite
It does not stop, which is the cost and the point
The decision
Which one fits
Choose Campfire
Fits when
Your ERP is really your general ledger, and the close is the thing that hurts.
Watch for
Software, services and subscription businesses, multi-entity, with operations that live in other tools anyway.
Choose NetSuite
Fits when
One system has to run operations as well as accounting: stock, orders, fulfilment, production.
Watch for
The moment inventory or manufacturing is in scope, the comparison stops being close.
It is closer than it looks
Fits when
You sell physical product but run lean operations, and the ledger is genuinely the bottleneck.
Watch for
This is the case worth working through properly, because the commerce layer has to be designed rather than assumed.
If you are in the third case, the commerce layer is the piece to settle first. How Shopify and Campfire connect →
Process
How the project runs
1
Requirements, not features
What the system must run, who depends on it, and which processes are actually yours rather than inherited.
2
Fit against both
We map those requirements to each platform, including the parts neither one covers.
3
Cost the whole picture
Licence, implementation and the systems you would need alongside each option.
4
Recommendation in writing
One answer, with the reasoning and the trade-offs you are accepting.
5
Implementation, if you want it
We implement whichever one you choose. If the answer is neither, we will say that too.
FAQ
Questions buyers ask
Is Campfire a real ERP or just accounting software?
It is a financial ERP: general ledger, multi-entity consolidation, revenue recognition, close management and reporting, with automation through its own AI features. It is not an operational ERP, and it does not claim to be one.
Which is cheaper?
Campfire is usually cheaper to implement and quicker to reach a first close. Whether it is cheaper overall depends on what you have to buy alongside it for the operational side. Neither vendor publishes pricing you can compare directly.
We are on NetSuite and only use the financials. Should we move?
That is the strongest case for moving, and it is worth costing properly. The question to settle first is what else would have to change, because the connectors around NetSuite all need a new destination.
Can we run both?
Yes, and some businesses do while they transition. It costs two subscriptions and a maintained boundary between them, so it works best as a route rather than a destination.
You sell NetSuite. Why would you recommend Campfire?
Because we sell outcomes on both. Seibert Consulting Group is an independent integrator and an official Campfire partner, and a recommendation that ignores the cheaper, faster answer when it fits is not worth much.
Want the comparison run against your requirements?
Tell us what your ERP has to do beyond the books. That single answer usually decides this, and it takes a conversation rather than a spreadsheet.
