SAP Business One, which caters to businesses needing 5 to 100 users, is the main focus of SAP for small businesses. Due to the user count restriction, it is not a wise investment for businesses that are expanding quickly. You’ll probably need to upgrade to SAP Business ByDesign or S/4 Hanna if your company reaches 101 users.
Particularly if you chose the SAP BusinessOne on-premise edition, this upgrade process could be labor-intensive. (More to follow on that.)
Making the decision to use SAP Business One may initially benefit your business, but if a breakthrough occurs, you might quickly outgrow it.
NetSuite has a successful track record and will grow with your business. They all utilize the same product, and their clients range in size from one user to thousands. Since 2011, 65% of IT IPOs have been users of NetSuite.
By choosing SAP Business One, do you wish to restrict the development potential of your business?
Surprisingly, SAP Business ByDesign competes for essentially the same clientele. Any firm with 20 to 100 users is eligible for both products since it is designed for businesses with 1,000 or more users. This raises the possibility of an internal dispute regarding the two products’ development priorities, spending, and other resources.
Healthy competition is excellent, but choosing software to manage your money and your company for the next five to ten years poses issues you’d prefer not to consider.
Customers of NetSuite do not experience the same problem. Upgrades are simplified because there are only three core NetSuite editions, and they all use the same code base. Additionally, automatic bi-annual upgrades are performed, and the most recent version retains all modifications. The company size and necessary users are the key distinctions between the NetSuite editions, but all clients utilize the same product.
The significant reliance on the SAP Partner Community for product innovation is something else to take into account. See the following statement from SAP’s President of Industries and Customer Advisory, Peter Maier.
“Currently, for all customer segments, partners create at least 80% of SAP’s industry cloud solutions. I anticipate that the midmarket will have a significantly larger percentage.
What motivates SAP’s corporate team to invest in cutting-edge cloud solutions in light of this assertion? Around 850 value-added resellers are in charge of this midmarket innovation on a global scale. Although it is fantastic to rely on partners for insight, there may be quality issues, which could lead to an even greater reliance on partners for upgrades and maintenance.”
Both on-premises using Microsoft SQL and in the cloud using SAP Hana in-memory technology are options for SAP Business One. On our website, we go into great length on the drawbacks of on-premise ERP, but this raises another query.
RISE with SAP is a program that SAP developed to entice users to switch to S/4 HANA, their cloud service, even if they prefer the on-premise version. The transition from on-premises to the cloud is a difficult and expensive process.
It is possible that SAP is switching from its on-premises roots to cloud-based solutions (which is a smart business move, editorially speaking). To learn about the differences between on-premises and the cloud, read this blog.
You just have one option when using NetSuite, and that is the cloud. More than 32,000 businesses trust NetSuite, and they all use the most recent and secure version.
